The stats are meaningless as the number of arrests is not proportional to the number of convictions, or the punishment that goes with it.

The Human Rights Act, Political Correctness, and over crowded prisons, all contribute to a softly softly stance. If we want to reduce crime, punishments need to be harsher.

For example, if a potential car thief knew that the penalty was to have his feet amputated so he could never drive again, would he risk it?

I think many wouldn’t.

Together we can build a better Britain.

He would doit again because he would get new feet on the NHS!!! The only way to stop these people stealing is to find an island far far away and send them there to rot!!

Send them all away I say!!!

No no no, derek. it is this softly softly approach that is encouraging crime. amputate 3 of the offender’s closest loved one’s feet, that way they will be too busy caring for them to try to steal cars, then after 4 years give them a weeks deadline to write a masters thesis on the merits and demerits of their own punishment. If they do not complete it to satisfactoty standard then they should be bound and tied up in a ’stress’ position for the rest of their lives, that should sort em. Failing that hang them, till they are almost dead, then draw out their internal organs live on tv which the whole country is forced to watch and then cut their limbs off and send them to the four corners of the country.

For example, if a potential twatty poster knew that the penalty was to have his hands amputated so he could never post again, would he risk it?
