These were the first two comments, posted the very moment the debate was opened. You’d have to get up pretty early in the morning to not care about something before Fraser and Mark have not cared about it. Lauren has christened this “not-caring-against-the-clock”.
Little do these two aspiring uncarers realise that their efforts are all in vain. Weeks, months and years before they even began to contemplate not caring about this particular issue, I had already begun not caring about their not caring. As time passed, my indifference itself became profoundly uninteresting. Its depth and intensity gave it an almost physical presence, like a bland, beige oval looming over my head, boring everyone shitless. It was completely impossible to tell that I wasn’t caring. Looking at me, my eyes glazed and empty, you’d have thought I was maybe “listening to Woman’s Hour” or “reading a newspaper article by Andrew Marr”. It was a bit like being dead.

“Not caring” is very last season. Replacing “outgrieving in public places to show that I care more than you”, which is just so 1987, 2008′s big thing will be being a bit “meh” about stuff. Or “the new beige”, as I call it.

I spent hours on the phone counselling Di but would I speak about it on the net ? No, because I’ve moved on. I for one live in the real world, I for one am cool and important, I for one have no need of this fix some of you seem to get out of it.
