Is China softening on internet access?
If the BBC cannot even grant “freedom” (you have your own monitoring and screening process here) in this tiny forum, there is absolutely no reason to criticise the Chinese governemnt of blocking those websites, which apparently break the ‘house rules’.

I’ve had a play with google.cn, and it won’t let you search for “Enoch was right”, “Bring back the birch” or “End gay immigration now”.
Who cares what China does? Maybe the Chinese, but I and the vast majority of the British public are not Chinese. So, let them do what they like.
There are far more pressing issues to look at here at home, rather then something half-way around the world.

Toby Johnson really is a global citizen isn’t he? What a frog’s flange.
What a rollercoaster ride of emotions China will be going through right now! On the one hand, crushing, bitter rejection - Toby Hastings doesn’t care about China! It’ll be difficult for China to recover from that, after all the special times they’ve shared, and after all the effort that China put into the relationship. But wait, on the other hand, if it can only get through the blackness and the hurting to realise that finally it’s truly free, free from the shackles of responsibility, because Toby gives permission for China to do whatever it likes! No more nervously asking Toby whether to wear this, or that, or what he wants for dinner; no more having to turn down drinks after work for fear that Toby will get mad and jealous. No more being afraid to ask which internet sites to censor. Carte blanche for China!
Maybe the Chinese care about what’s happening in China. Except we all know, given the freedom they’d be frantically googling “what’s on in Hastings” and “inside Toby Johnson’s tiny mind”
The trouble with freedom in this country is people think it means, “oh I can do what I like”, “I want Gay Marriage”, “I want ten kids and no job”, “I want to biuld a mosk”. Freedom doesn’t mean that!!! Freedom means you can do whatever the MAJORITY WANTS. That’s what democracy IS! The sooner minorities get their head round this SIMPLE FACT the better. This is OUR country and we get to choose what is allowed. WHITE, CHRISTIAN DEMOCRATIC FACTS, PEOPLE!

Toby Johnson and his ilk are an interesting bunch, spending plenty of time, effort and resources on discussions about topics in which they are not interested, to tell everyone that they are not interested in them.
In other words, they have less intelligence and are more useless than the offspring of Paris Hilton and a mutant badger-duck-tortoise. Bell-ends, the whole bunch of ‘em.

I went back and checked my local paper for the week of September 11, 2001 and found that the most important issue at that time was that the pedestrian crossing on Ealing Broadway was broken and pedestrians were “literaly taking their lives in their hands” by crossing on their own initiative.
Fortunately it was repaired shortly afterwards and now everything’s perfectly fine with the world.

I think the Chinese missed a trick. Had they massacred people in Tianamen Sq a year earlier they could have won a Gold Medal for Tank Racing in Seoul. Did bugger up their claim on Asia City of Sportmanship however…
