Should the Church of Scotland accept a gay minister? The debate rages on and privileges us with a glimpse of some rare intellects, locked in mental combat.

“I haven’t had such a good laugh in a long while.
Atheists are as least as tolerant as any one with a religion.”
jane Coburn, Milton Keynes, United Kingdom

Explain then why the Russians who have a totally secular society recently sanctioned the use of force to break up a gay rally in Moscow…
[Spirit_of_Iona], Aberdeenshire, United Kingdom

I’m still a little confused. Who’s brilliant and who’s shit? I think I’ve got the right answers for “Members of Parliament” and “Susan Boyle” but I’m still stuck on “commies”, “atheists”, “homos” and “the BNP”.

I was going to write something dead witty and original but instead I’m just going to have to go with

Tis mighty confusing that’s for sure. A bunch of people who exist in real life (jock gayers) are being prevented from talking about someone who doesn’t exist (babeee jebus) by people who believe that latter really exists but the former should be stoned to death until they don’t exist.

    My head hurts.

Explain why the British who have a totally secular society haven’t beaten [spirit_of_iona] to death with large hammers.

Should a minority community, a significant proportion of which dress up in frocks and have a penchant for a good sing-song in the belief that it legitimises their shared interest in talking to their imaginary friend, be allowed to discriminate against another minority community on the basis that some of them like dressing up in frocks and enjoying a good sing-song?

Guys, if you’re going to do everything that your imaginary friend tells you to, you should at least do everything it tells you to do and not pick and choose when it suits you. So if you’re going to give some guy a hard time just because he prefers to dip his wick in Arthur rather than Martha, then at least lock up all the menstruating women in the immediate vicinity, buy yourself some slaves, abstain from shellfish and lop a bit of skin off the end of your cock. And no coveting your neighbour’s oxen. Even if it is a bloody nice one.

At least the Ruskies aren’t using their imaginary friends to excuse the fact that they’re bigots. Although the fact that Putin gives the impression that he lives in Narnia might have something to do with it.

    What would Jesus do, eh?

  6. on 05 Jun 2009 at 11:28 am red

Jesus would probably get down on his knees & suck hard

He luuurves a bit of cock, the dirty messiah that he is(or isnt)

  7. on 05 Jun 2009 at 11:33 am fucko the clown

actually Red, if you look closely at the scriptures and taking into account some of the art works in the historical record, its morely likely that Jesus was a ‘pitcher’ rather than a ‘catcher’

Wot you mean I live in Narnia?!?

  9. on 05 Jun 2009 at 12:45 pm The Idle Johnson

Narnia is a secular society but look at what the wicked witch did there (or was that OZ). It’s a good job we’ve got the BNP cos England, I mean Britain, would be overun with elves and goblins and fucking fauns!1

God, I hate fucking fauns! Don’t mind the Goblins though.

Secular, atheist, socialist, communist, guardian-reader, blooddrinkingsatanistcockmuncher – the semantic differences are minor to yer average HYSer. Not to forget muslim, terrorist and flatnosedsavage.

For the record, I think Mr Putin is a really nice man and doesn’t get gays beaten up, or plant explosives in Moscow blocks of flats so he can start a war in Chechnya and get elected President, or assassinate journalists. Oh no.

Hopefully, no polonium sushi for me now.

Anyway, is Spirit_of_Iona saying if the Communists can beat up gays, why can’t the Wee Free Kirk?

And on the subject of secular societies, in Sweden where they’re nearly all atheists (unless it means a day of work for St.Ulrika’s day when they all get GOD bigstyle for some reason), there is a distinct lack of queer-bashing.

Not sure what this proves except that Spirit_of_Iona is fucking evil.

Wot you mean I live in Narnia?!?

He’s saying that you’re so far in the closet that you’ve run out of coats and mothballs to hide behind.

We’ve all seen the photos, the chest baring, the uniforms and the ABBA fixation.

Dorothy is your biggest mate, mate.

(@Dr Feelgood. Now they’ve had a good long think about Spirit_of_Iona’s musings The Wee Free Kirk’s less concerned about the equal right to gaybash and more concerned about being able to legally wield poisoned tipped umbrellas for use against “left-footers”.)

Come on now, this isn’t difficult.
    a) They are slavering bigots.
    b) You are narrow-minded homophobes.
    c) We respect individual freedoms but we have to think of the children.
    d) Woops ducky & pass the poppers.

Surely if Putin can beat up gays and Christians can beat up gays so Christians can beat up gays and Putin is gay Putin and Christians must beat up Putin, we can beat up the lot of them! Yay! My dreams have come true! (Oh, and by beating up Christians and Putin, the Christians will stop beating up gays and Putin will come to terms with his own sexuality.) Problem solved. [blockquotes] I can has blockquotes? [/blockquotes]

    Try the triangley brackets.

While we’re on the subject of homo-hating secularists, I notice that “Robert Mugabe” is almost if not quite an anagram of “gay tromboner”. Yeah, take that Bob. Satire.

“Robert Mugabe” is almost if not quite an anagram of “gay tromboner”

How very, very true. Two groups that have always greatly troubled me united into a near-anagram of one of the world’s less popular leaders. Frankly, it’s all a bit worrying.

Do I get points for being thrown out the wee free church for being gay? Admittedly it was lots of lovely dykey action but they still didn’t like it.

“Explain then why the Russians who have a totally secular society recently sanctioned the use of force to break up a gay rally in Moscow…”

All unauthorised demonstrations in Moscow are broken up by the police, who are permitted to use force if the demonstrators do not leave peacefully. Just the same as happens in London.

As for the recent “demonstration” in Moscow, far from being a well organised, and planned “pride” event with broad popular support, it was more of an ad-hoc gay-themed Rick Roll designed deliberately to provoke a police response that could be written up in western media outlets in Stalinist terms simply to provide Russophobic fodder for ignorant pigs like you.

Then you should be laughing. No one here really minds. We are much more interested in lambasting people with stupid, ill-thought-out opinions etc than people who struggle with blockquotes. We’ve all cocked up with those…
